During the internship at Myant, I designed a new 'Connections' feature for their Skiin Connected Life App with data visualization, enhancing personalized health sharing among seniors and their caregivers.

01 | The problem

Seniors and caregivers struggle with health data sharing

1. Disconnection

Remote seniors feel disconnected from family and care providers.

2. Lack of Support

Seniors find managing health difficult without strong support.

3. Limited Visibility

Families and providers lack clear insights into seniors' health.

Design Solution 1: Group wellness Comparison

User Story: "Living far from my family, I want a shared wellness dashboard to track trends and support each other despite the distance." (Jessica, 18 years old)

Approach

Summarize key health data (location, activity, heart rate) in a visual format for easy family sharing.

Design Solution 2: Aura Overlay at Top

User Story: "As a caregiver, I need real-time health updates and connection status alerts for my elderly parents so I can check in when needed." (Rohan, 45 years old)

Approach

Aura Overlay provides a quick health summary, detailed individual data, and alerts for poor connection.

Design Solution 3: Group wellness Comparison

User Story: "As a senior new to apps, I want clear guidance on using Aura Overlay to track my family’s health and stay connected." (Thomas, 72 years old)

Approach

Add tooltips and a help icon in Group Wellness for easy access to explanations and support.

Usability Test Key Takeaways

85.7% of testers (12/14) said they’d use the Skiin app regularly. Users of all ages found it useful for tracking personal and shared data. Surprisingly, seniors found the visualizations easy to read.
